When you create an account we store your email address and password (the password is hashed, so we never see or store it in readable form). Your profile is provided by you and stored so the service can work. That covers your full name (only ever shown to you, and to us if you are reported), location, climbing disciplines, grades, languages, availability, bio, trips, and the contact methods you choose to offer.
Your profile (location, home wall, disciplines, grades, languages, bio, trips, sessions and review count) is visible to visitors, which is how partners find you. Your surname is never shown to anyone else: other climbers see your first name and an initial, so “Matthew Kozma” appears as “Matthew K.”. Sessions you post or join are public, including who else is coming. Your contact details are never public. They are only shared with another climber after you both accept a connection, and then only the specific methods you both agreed to share. Disconnecting removes that access immediately, in both directions. Your email address is never shown to anyone.
Data is stored with Supabase (our database provider) in the European Union, and the site is served by Vercel. If you agree to analytics, Google Analytics also receives basic visit information. All three process data on our behalf under their own GDPR commitments. We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising, and we don't share your data with anyone except as described here.
The location you type (home or trip destinations) is converted to map coordinates using OpenStreetMap's geocoding service, so the place name you entered is sent to them for that lookup. We never access your device's GPS. You can hide your home pin from the map in your profile settings, or use nomad mode with no home location at all.
You can see and edit everything on your profile at any time. You can delete individual contact methods, trips, sessions and connections yourself. You can also delete your whole account from the bottom of the edit profile page, which removes your profile, photo, contact details, trips, sessions and connections immediately. For a copy of your data, or if anything goes wrong, email help@climbpartner.app and we'll action it within 30 days. Reviews you wrote about other climbers may remain on their profiles (with your name detached from your deleted account), because they form part of the reviewed climber's history.
The only storage we set by default is what keeps you logged in on your device. That is essential to the service and cannot be switched off.
We also ask, once, whether you are happy for us to use Google Analytics so we can see how many people visit and which countries to grow into next. Nothing is loaded from Google unless you say yes, and your answer is remembered. We do not run advertising and we do not track you across other websites. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings and you will be asked again.
